Bankrolling Uncharted Itineraries
Last updated September 2, 2026
This policy describes what Bankrolling Uncharted Itineraries ("the app") collects, why, and how you can remove it. It applies to the iOS app and its companion web app, both built by the same developer.
The short version: if you choose Guest mode, nothing about your trips ever leaves your device. If you sign in, we store your trip, budget, and itinerary data so it can sync across your own devices — nothing is sold, shared with advertisers, or used for tracking, because there is no advertising or analytics in this app at all.
Information you provide by using the app
- Account information, only if you sign in: the email address and account identifier your Apple ID or Google account provides during sign-in. We never see or store your Apple/Google password.
- Trip data you enter: trip names, destinations, dates, budgets, itinerary entries, purchases, and to-do items — including any free-text notes or locations you type in. This is the data the app exists to manage.
- Receipt photos are processed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device text recognition. The photo itself is never uploaded anywhere, never stored by the app, and is discarded immediately after the store name, total, and date are read from it. Only that resulting text becomes part of a purchase entry.
Guest mode
Choosing "Continue as Guest" means no account is created and nothing is ever transmitted off your device. Your trips exist only in local storage on that one device, are never synced, and are permanently lost if the app is deleted.
How your information is used
If you're signed in, your trip data is stored so it can sync between every device where you sign into the same account. It is used for no other purpose — not analytics, not advertising, not profiling. The app contains no analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising software of any kind.
Who your information is shared with
- Apple and Google — only as identity providers for signing in. They confirm who you are; the app never receives your password.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — the backend infrastructure (operated by the app's developer) that stores your synced trip data and authenticates your sessions.
- Pexels — if your trip has a destination, its name is sent to Pexels' photo search API to show a relevant background image. No account or personal information is included in that request.
- Frankfurter (an exchange-rate API) — currency codes only, to display conversion rates. No personal or trip information is included.
None of these services receive your email address, your name, or your trip content, except AWS, which stores it on your behalf under your own account.
Data security
All network traffic uses HTTPS/TLS in transit. Your session is stored in iOS's Keychain, protected by your device's own security. You can additionally require Face ID to unlock the app in Settings. Data at rest in AWS is encrypted using AWS's standard infrastructure-level encryption.
Deleting your data
You can permanently delete your account and every trip associated with it at any time from Settings. This removes your data from our database and deletes your account record entirely — there is no way to recover it afterward, by us or anyone else. Guest mode data is deleted simply by deleting the app.
Children's privacy
This app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change with it. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the update.
